Mission and Leadership Experience: Mattie Marie Mast currently serves as part of the leadership team at LifeBridge Community Church, Dover, Ohio, a four-year-old church plant. She also forms part of the core group of a new church plant at Strasburg, Ohio. She is a member of the ministry development team of Ohio Mennonite Conference of Mennonite Church USA.
Previously, Mattie served as associate pastor at the Sonnenberg Mennonite Church, Kidron, Ohio, 2001-2009. She retired from formal ministry in 2009. She worked briefly as staff with Freedom Gate Ministries, 1993-1994, and as a caseworker with The Salvation Army, 1994-2000, both located in Reading, Pa. Mattie, along with her husband, Michael, served with Mennonite Board of Missions for 26 years in northern Argentina, as fraternal mission workers with the United Evangelical Church, an autonomous First Nations church, 1966-1992.
Mattie holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Arts with minors in Mission and Peace and Justice Studies from Eastern Mennonite University, Harrisonburg, Va., and a Master of Arts degree in Pastoral Care and Counseling from Neumann University, Aston, Pa. In 2011, she completed a two-year certificate program in Spiritual Direction at KAIROS school of spiritual formation, Lancaster, Pa.
Mattie loves to be a friend, to read, travel, and see the world through the eyes of her nine grandchildren.
