Nepal

Mennonite workers first went to Nepal in the 1950s to work under a new international consortium called United Mission to Nepal. Mennonites worked in health and education ministries, rural development, electrification technology, nutrition, and many other fields. As Nepali people have been trained in most such professional fields, there has been reduced need for expatriate expertise. But foreign workers continue to serve under UMN and other agencies in this poorest of Asian countries, mentoring Nepali staff and bringing specific knowledge to help in unique situations.

Mission Network workers today run businesses, counsel new believers, and help in congregational ministries. There are still service opportunities in conflict transformation, communication, and other fields.
