Uruguay

German-speaking Mennonites migrated to Uruguay after World War II and formed the Konferenz der Mennonitengemeinden. Their presence was a factor in the sending of mission workers from both predecessor agencies, Commission on Overseas Mission and Mennonite Board of Missions, beginning in 1954 for regional seminary training and the formation of Spanish-speaking churches.

In 1972, the Spanish churches organized into a conference, now known as Convención de las Iglesias Menonitas en Uruguay.

The Mission Network supports the Uruguayan Centro de Estudios organized to develop leaders and strengthen the churches' Anabaptist identity.

The Campomision project helps to bring together people from the Convención and the Konferenz in a coordinated way to plant new churches.
