Overview
FEINE’s vision is to be a leader in spiritual and holistic development with an identity that transforms Ecuadorian society and strengthens its intercultural nature. Of the more than 2,500 evangelical indigenous churches in Ecuador, approximately 80 percent are members of FEINE. These churches are located in 18 of the 21 provinces, and each province has an association of churches that forms part of FEINE. These associations include 50 distinct indigenous groups.
History
In 1990, FEINE invited predecessor agency Mennonite Board of Missions to Ecuador because of their concern for biblical and theological education and leadership development for the rapidly growing indigenous churches. Mennonite Mission Network is involved through the Ecuador Partnership in providing professors and some funding to support the intermediate level theological training program for indigenous pastors and church leaders.
