Overview
Mennonite Christian Service Fellowship of India (MCSFI) is an inter-Mennonite agency that provides a forum for the nine Mennonite-related denominations in India to relate to each other for fellowship and in service to their society.
History
MCSFI began as a gathering place for the several Mennonite conferences of India to build their sense of community and shared history. Over the years, the conferences have grown and in some cases separated along provincial lines. One Nepali conference is an associate member. The most recent new conference developed from indigenous and independent church planting, realized that it is in agreement with Anabaptist theology, and has joined this national Mennonite fellowship. In recent years, MCSFI has moved well beyond fellowship into social and emergency outreach, with an agricultural development program, post-tsunami projects, conflict transformation education programs, and HIV/AIDS education. MCSFI consults with its member bodies and has organized inter-Mennonite seminars for improving pastoral education.
