This resource provides a mission-focused stewardship education curriculum to offer hope and support to God’s reconciling work in bringing peace and justice to Colombia. God sent Jesus to bring justice to the oppressed and hope into a suffering world. Jesus calls us to continue this work of peacemaking and healing as we extend love and hope where there is pain and loss.
Amanda and Gamaliel Falla are Mennonite Mission Network and Mennonite Church Canada Witness workers in Colombia. They are followers of Jesus, working to spread the good news in Colombia. They are pastors who train other pastors. The Colombian Mennonites are working with 12 church plants. It’s exciting to see these churches emerging and ministering in their neighborhoods. One of these new churches meets in a little school in a poor neighborhood. Some of the children who live in this neighborhood moved there to escape fighting in their home villages. Every week, the members of this church make lunch for about 20 children and play soccer with them.
As followers of Jesus, we are called to partner with the Mennonite churches in Colombia. Many of our Colombian brothers and sisters in Christ suffer because they have chosen to leave their homes and live as displaced persons rather than participating in war. The Colombian congregations help people know God’s presence in their lives and bring new hope to many people who have been displaced. The mission banks serve as a tool to help children partner with these churches. This curriculum invites us to use our God-given talents to pray, offer encouragement, and support Colombian Mennonite churches as they work to bring healing and hope into broken lives. Working together, the church will offer hope and renew lives.
