Mission in community

These resources are designed to assist you in planning for worship on Mennonite Church USA's designated Mission Sunday: November 14, 2010. The tools focus on the ways that God's mission, relationships and community are intertwined.

In his Missio Dei  booklet, What is an Anabaptist Christian?, Palmer Becker says that the first core conviction of Anabaptists is that "Jesus is the center of our faith." And as such, we are called to follow Jesus in our daily lives. This is a conviction Mennonites have long held, and following Jesus in mission through the posture of a servant is something we strive for.

At Mission Network, we believe that mission best happens within a framework of partnership and dialogue. In each place where mission workers are serving, we work in conjunction with local agencies and churches that give leadership to the efforts in their home country. These worship resources celebrate the importance of doing mission in community, and invite you to join in that celebration.

We encourage your congregation to choose one Sunday a year to focus specifically on the mission of the church. If you are unable to do so on November 14, you can choose another date to celebrate your commitment to being a missional church.
