Orientation checklist

What to bring

Passport and/or visa (non-U.S. citizens): Bring these documents with you to orientation so we can make copies for your file.

Passport or birth certificate for eligibility in the AmeriCorps program: We are required to see it in order to verify eligibility for the program.

Contact your local leadership if you are traveling to your unit directly after orientation so they can be prepared to meet you.

Read the MVS Handbook: To help us cover the details of the MVS program more efficiently, please take the time to look over the MVS Handbook before coming to orientation.

Additional items
Sleeping bag or single sheets/blanket (the church has air mattresses you can use)
Pillow
Casual clothes
Towels, toiletries
Sunscreen
Bible
Pen/pencil and notebook/paper for taking notes
Table games/cards (for late-night activities)
Swimming suit
Musical instruments

Remember that we are meeting in San Antonio in August, so it will be hot.  Typical temperatures for this time of year are around 98 during the day and 85 at night.  However, when you pack, please keep in mind that we are meeting in a conservative part of San Antonio, and we ask that you pack cool but modest clothes in order to respect the community that we will be staying in.
