Description:
Patchwork Central has operated an urban bicycle workshop/studio since 2000. This studio provides free bikes and bike repairs to homeless and low-income individuals who rely on them for transportation (Bike ReCycle program). It is also an element within our after-school and summer children's programming, teaching basic bike safety, repair and maintenance (Bike Club). Past bicycle program activities have included the design and creation of custom art bikes.
Bicycle program coordinator duties:

Work with Patchwork staff and volunteers to coordinate all bicycle-related activities at Patchwork.

Work with present children's program staff to enhance the use of the bike workshop in the Arts & Smarts program, ArtsPlace, the summer art/garden program, and other existing programs.

Coordinate with current Bike ReCycle program volunteers, staff, leadership, bicycle recipients, and community partners.

Build program recognition and awareness throughout the city.

Solicit both in-kind and financial support for Patchwork's bicycle programs.

Provide vision for Patchwork's bicycle program, and develop the program in new directions according to the applicant's talents. Qualifications:
- Function easily in a workshop setting.

Basic knowledge of bike repair and maintenance or willingness to self-educate.

Enjoy relating to diverse neighborhood residents - children, teenagers and adults.

Ability to work with and communicate well with Patchwork staff, volunteers, donors, and program participants.
- Delight as much in teaching others how to participate in program activities as in producing one's own work.
