Job duties would consist of managing the food pantry, (inventory, ordering of food, coordinating volunteers and basic record-keeping). Part of the record-keeping responsiblities would be to use a computer based assessment tool designed to help seek input from the community concerning the needs in the community. Other duties would be to help coordinate the Christmas dinner project and any other projects undertaken. Potential exists for new projects/programs in the areas of after school tutoring programs, youth sport or music programs, parenting classes, health fairs, English classes, etc. In addition, the coordinator would attend other community events focused on community grass roots advocacy and social justice concerns. One component of CARE is to empower the community to advocate for their own needs, with the churches as partners. Therefore, there is a need for the church to participate in justice advocacy efforts of the wider community. Finally, the cordinator would be responsible for creating a resource referral library and for referring individuals contacting the church to appropriate agencies for help. In this task, the coordinator would work closely with the church's administrative assistant. Qualifications:

2. The ability to work with an ethnic and diverse population. CARE works with a multi-cultural community. Not only is the neighborhood ethnically diverse, the program is commited to working together with the three other churches in the community - Valley Vineyard Church, Hmong Mennonite Community and Iglesia de Christo Adonai. The four churches represent an ethnically diverse Christian community. The ability to speak Spanish would be an asset.
3. A mature, self-motivated individual. The coordinator would work under the supervision of the church pastor, at the church, but some of the time would be working without direct supervision.
4. Good organizational skills.
5. Be outgoing and willing to engage people in conversation.
6. A willingness to be an ambassador for our congregation in the surrounding neighborhood.
7. A willingness to consider a two-year term.
