Funding definitions

Funding support for international ministries comes from several sources.
The financial support for ministries comes from Mission Network’s own budget, regional mission partnerships, ministry support teams (MSTs), and jointly-raised funding with other mission agencies and international partners. Each long-term ministry is a unique mix of these elements. While long-term workers and applicants participate in activities that help raise support, the individuals serving internationally are not primarily responsible for raising that support. Mission Network staff and MSTs take that responsibility. However, if the assignment is for less than two years, the applicant is personally responsible for developing full funding support.

In summary, the main sources for financial support are:

Support network-funded
Mennonite Mission Network helps the worker form a community of support to take responsibility to find funding for the assignment. The Mission Network may also contact churches to solicit financial support toward the MST. The worker must make a commitment of two years or more to receive help from the Mission Network in forming a network of supporters.

Self-funded
The worker provides his or her own funding, generally with the help of the home congregation, friends and relatives. Assignments of less than two years are self-funded.

Agency-funded
A few projects are agency-funded, where Mennonite Mission Network and/or an international agency or partner provides full funding.
