Myers Clinic serves the area's entire community, including many low-income patients, sometimes at a loss financially. The volunteer receives on-the-job training and will interact on a daily basis with the wide variety of people throughout the surrounding community. Responsibilities include checking in patients (collect information; take temperature, weight, height, blood pressure), performing basic laboratory tests, answering patient calls, and contacting pharmacies. This position also provides an opportunity to work in registration at the appointment desk, filing and scanning patient charts, giving a well-rounded orientation to clinic operation and some basic medical experience. Volunteers will work once or twice a week at a specialty clinic with an allergy department, observing tests and allergy injections. Full-time.
