Unit

The Service Adventure house in Raleigh is in a small community only two blocks from Raleigh Mennonite Church and within walking distance of downtown Raleigh, in the Mordecai Historic Area. The community is economically, socially and culturally diverse, which allows the household to interact with neighbors of all backgrounds.

Church

Service Adventure has become an active and vital part of Raleigh Mennonite Church, which is a vibrant congregation of around 100 members. RMC founded the Service Adventure unit in 1997 because of its dedication to building unity and breaking down racial and class barriers in their community. Many church members live in the area surrounding the church, a testament to their commitment to the community.

Service
A variety of service options are available for Service Adventure participants, including placements in child care as teachers' assistants and after-school workers, in health care, in social services, with Habitat for Humanity, and with Ten Thousand Villages. Unusual placements include working as a pharmacy assistant and with Habitat’s ReUse center for recycled and overstocked building materials.
