Team Size: The Honduras Youth Venture team is limited to six participants.

Service and Learning Components:  Participants will experience a variety of activities and settings. The service component will be with a Mennonite church in San Pedro Sula, named Camino de Santidad, which has projects working with some of the most vulnerable populations of children in the country. Youth Venture participants will serve alongside local Mennonite youth on a variety of service projects and will help with a day or two of Bible school.

Other learning activities will include trips in and around San Pedro Sula: to a banana plantation, a clothing factory owned by a U.S. company, social outreach projects managed by the Honduran Mennonite Church, and coffee farms.

The group will also travel with local youth to the beach on Honduras’ north coast, and to “eco” hotels on a mountain-top community inhabited mostly by coffee farmers in the western part of the country.

Housing Facilities:  You will live with Honduran Mennonite host families, with a few stays in hotels while traveling.

Travel to Location:  You will meet your team for orientation in either Miami or Chicago on June 16. You will need to make your own travel arrangements to the departure city—details will be available later. Youth Venture will make your travel arrangements from Miami/Chicago to San Pedro Sula. The team will leave for San Pedro Sula, Honduras, on June 18.

If you do not have a passport, you can download an application at www.travel.state.gov/passport/forms.html. Please allow ample time for passport processing. Visas are given at the time of entry in Honduras.

Cost:  Trip cost is $1,950 and includes international travel, visa costs, meals, lodging, and a donation to help support local initiatives. The cost includes orientation on June 16 through your return to the United States on July 5. Trip cost does not include travel to Chicago/Miami, passport, or personal spending money. Trip cost is subject to change in the event of significant airline price increases.
