Service Opportunities: Lakewood Retreat is a Mennonite Church Camp and retreat center located in central Florida. Volunteers
help with maintenance, kitchen work, housekeeping and various improvement projects.
Lodging: RV hook-ups are available.
Service Opportunities: SOOP Camp Ithiel.
Camp Ithiel, near Orlando, operates year-round with mostly weekend groups in the winter and weeklong
sleep-away camps in the summer. Interests and talents of volunteers can be matched with a special project
or task. Projects range from fix-it jobs, light construction, trimming shrubs and limbs, tree cutting and
trimming, painting, spring-cleaning and housekeeping to assisting in the kitchen or office. New Covenant Church of the Brethren worships on site.
Lodging: The camp provides electricity, water and sewer hook-ups for RVs in a wooded, secluded part of the
grounds. Nearby is the bathhouse with laundry, restrooms, showers, telephone and covered picnic
shelter.
Service Opportunities: Homestead Mennonite Church is located in a multicultural neighborhood with many families and children. The church has a core of very committed people, but the needs in the community are bigger than the church alone can meet. Volunteer opportunities include:
Home renovations through DOOR
Childcare assistance
Maintenance and lawn care
Light carpentry repairs
Food distribution
Lodging: RV hook-ups are available.
Service Opportunities: Volunteers assist at the Sarasota Christian School with tasks assigned for office, library or classroom and
with the maintenance and grounds department. The retirement village, Sunnyside Village, welcomes
assistance with activities and events as well as maintenance and yard work. Goshen College's Sarasota
campus, which offers academic adult programs, also has volunteer needs. Other openings for volunteer
assistance are being explored with Sarasota’s homeless shelter, Resurrection House, All Faiths Food Bank,
MCC Relief program, the Charis Center, Habitat for Humanity, the Attic Thrift Store and other
congregational ministries.
Lodging: Volunteers are asked to make their own living arrangements while serving in Sarasota during the busy
winter tourist season.
Service Opportunities: Life Enrichment Center is a United Methodist Adult retreat and
conference center. They would appreciate volunteers for any of the
following depending on gifts and skills; assisting with maintenance
staff, housekeeping, hospitality, hosting and/or special projects.
Lodging: Lodging will be in one of the guest rooms or in an RV on-site.
