Special Education Teacherhttps://www.mennonitemission.net/Serve/placements/international ministries/Nigeria/10/Special Education TeacherSpecial Education TeacherThe Wanted Children Foundation, children’s homes and church plant<p><strong>Position description:</strong><br>Set up and run the new alternate elementary school under the direction and support of the TWCF International project director; understand, write and implement IEPs; spend time with the children from the homes (and community who will attend) to understand their needs; work closely with the director to learn about the individual children’s backgrounds and needs; facilitate lessons and projects/activities that foster unity and peace; teach all subject matter at all grade levels; read curriculum (Canadian, American, Nigerian) and create units and lessons; train staff; teach workshops and sessions on various topics surrounding education, unique learning, supporting disabilities and behaviors, etc.</p><p><strong>Term: </strong>1-3 years</p><p><strong>Language:</strong> English</p><p><strong>Qualifications:</strong><br>Bachelor's degree, Bachelor of Education degree/Master's in Special Education (ability to teach elementary and ALL secondary subjects is necessary); certifications in various special education topics; at least four years' experience as a full-time contracted teacher; at least two years' experience as a special education teacher; extensive research in a variety of disorders and disabilities; hands-on experience with special education children; experience in Learning Assistance or various other support programs; ability to create IEPs, facilitate group meetings, and implement the adaptations or modifications.</p><p>Strongly self motivated with a high work ethic; passion and compassion for children; expertise in subject matter; creative ability to improvise, ability to make learning fun and unique and within context; cross-cultural understanding and experience; physical stamina; extremely outgoing and joyful, friendly with the ability to be respected; ability to work one-to-one and in a group, as well as teach adults.​</p>
