Since it is surrounded by rivers, it is accessible only by plane or long trips by boat on the Amazon River. Approximately 80 percent of the population is Indigenous peoples who have very limited resources. The main source of income is informal trade and tourism.</p><p>You will join the work of the <em>Iglesia Cristiana Menonita </em>congregation and will serve their ministries to youth and children and their families. Cecy Wong, who is from Iquitos, began a ministry with children and youth on the streets approximately 14 years ago. After marrying David Moreno from Colombia, five years ago their ministry expanded into the development of churches. David's brother Juan Carlos Moreno and his wife Cielo Arguello joined the team shortly after. Through them, this ministry is officially connected to the Colombian Mennonite Church (IMCOL).</p><p>Today, weekly children's programs are held in four areas of the city, with 40-60 children participating at each location. In addition, from the testimony of their own children, parents began asking to come together as a church. This year, they celebrated their fourth year as a congregation. Examples of contributing would be tutoring English or other school subjects; giving lessons in musical instruments; leading Bibles stories, games or singing with children; community health education; small-scale agricultural development</p><p><strong>Term:</strong> 1-3 years</p><p><strong>Language:  </strong>Spanish (instruction provided if needed)</p><p><strong>Qualifications:  </strong>willingness to serve in whatever capacity needed; ability to enter into lively worship with the community; experience working with children and/or youth helpful; ability to live simply; Anabaptist theological commitment.</p><p> </p><p><span style="text-decoration:underline;"></span> </p></div>
