Environmental Restoration Associatehttps://www.mennonitemission.net/Serve/placements/mennonite voluntary service/United States/521930/Environmental Restoration AssociateEnvironmental Restoration AssociateRio Grande Headwaters Restoration Project<p>This position is filled until August, 2018.</p> <p> Mission: To restore and conserve the historical functions and vitality of the Rio Grande in Colorado - improved water quality, agricultural water use, riparian health, wildlife and aquatic species habitat, recreation and community safety - while meeting the requirements of the historical Rio Grande Inter-state Compact. </p><p> Need: A motivated, energetic person to help with RGHRP Program implementation. Assist with daily program and administration tasks, along with seasonal fieldwork, in this small non-profit. Programs include Riparian Restoration and Streambank Stabilization, Diversion and Irrigation Headgate Repair/Replacement Program, and Water Users and Community Outreach and Education Programs. </p><p> Potential Tasks Include: <ul> <li>Small Non Profit Organization Administration: reporting, small grant writing, and data analysis. </li> <li>Field Work: monitoring data collection and new project surveying. </li> <li>Special Event Organization and Promotion: develop outreach and education materials, communicate with local media, contact and organize volunteers, and coordinate field days. </li> </ul> </p><div class="ExternalClass9D59DA06F36240E99DD8325D061356A7"><p> <b>Education or Experience</b><br> Preferred Bachelors or college studies in Biology, Hydrology, Natural Resources Management, Environmental Management, or similar. Strong interest in environmental restoration, small non-profit administration and community education may substitute for formal studies. </p><p> Two-year term preferred; but open to one-year placement for strong candidates. </p> <p> It is possible, due to limitations in funding and/or workload, that this position may be paired part-time with another environmental project in the community such as the Rio Grande Watershed Conservation & Education Initiative. </p></div>
