I'm so impressed with New York Cares that I'm applying for a couple of the positions you have open." - Christina Whiting, New York Cares volunteer </blockquote> </p><p> <b>Primary Job Responsibilities:</b> <ul> <li>Supporting volunteer recruitment and retention strategies.</li> <li>Assisting with and leading trainings for volunteer leaders.</li> <li>Interviewing prospective volunteer leaders (team leaders). </li> <li>Planning educational trainings and workshops for volunteers and for agency partners, to equip them with tools and materials to make their work more effective and sustainable, and to assist in the designing and implementation of these materials and trainings.</li> <li>Conducting evaluations of our volunteers, team leaders and project partners, analyzing the results of these findings, and implementing programmatic improvements as a result.</li> <li>Taking on the role of team leader at volunteer projects.</li> </ul> </p><p> Working with the Volunteer Relations department, and reporting to the Leadership Development Officer, the Volunteer Relations and Leadership Development Associate will assist with all aspects of volunteer and team leader recruitment and retention. This volunteer will wear many hats - interfacing with volunteers and our project partners on a daily basis, recruiting new volunteers and team leaders, taking the lead on volunteer projects, and analyzing programmatic data - to strengthen the volunteer and leadership base of New York Cares. While each task presents some challenges, the support and guidance of the Volunteer Relations department, and the knowledge that your work enables New York Cares to serve 400,000 at-risk New Yorkers each year, provides unlimited fulfillment and inspiration. </p><div class="ExternalClass190F27BB161A405B96123F9FCF2F34D3"><p> <b>Educational Requirements:</b> <ul> <li>At least two-years toward a bachelor's degree;</li> <li>General knowledge of MS Office, specifically Excel, and comfort learning new database systems;</li> <li>Excellent written and oral communication skills.</li> </ul> </p><p> <b>Trainings Provided:</b> <ul> <li>New York Cares Volunteer Orientation;</li> <li>Team Leader Training;</li> <li>Program Planning and Management Training;</li> <li>Salesforce. </li> </ul> </p><p> <b>Description of Ideal Volunteer:</b> <ul> <li>Demonstrated commitment to community service and volunteerism;</li> <li>Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team;</li> <li>Professional demeanor, both in person and on the telephone;</li> <li>Strong organizational skills, including the ability to juggle concurrent assignments and prioritize accordingly;</li> <li>Flexible nature and the ability to maintain a good sense of humor in potentially unpredictable situations.</li> </ul> </p></div>
