Northwest Immigrant Rights Project (NWIRP) promotes justice by defending and advancing the rights of immigrants through direct legal services, systemic advocacy, and community education. Founded in 1984, NWIRP is a nationally-recognized legal services organization dedicated solely to advancing and defending the rights of immigrants and refugees. Each year, NWIRP provides direct legal assistance in immigration matters to over 10,000 people from over 150 countries, speaking over 50 different languages. NWIRP also strives to achieve systemic change to policies and practices affecting immigrants and refugees through impact litigation, public policy work and community education. NWIRP serves the community through four offices in Washington State: Seattle, Tacoma, Granger and Wenatchee.
<b>Job Summary: </b><br>
The Operations Support Associate (OSA) works closely with the Administrative Director to ensure the office infrastructure and systems function effectively and efficiently, providing administrative support to all NWIRP Units. In addition to day-to-day information technology (IT) troubleshooting and maintenance, the OSA provides one-one-one and group user support to staff and volunteers. Successful candidates must be able to handle a fast-paced, dynamic work environment. Bilingual Spanish-speaking applicants are given preference. In-depth training is provided, so we encourage you to apply if you are passionate about our mission but are still developing your IT or administration skills.
<li>Provide direct administrative support to staff across our four offices in Seattle, Tacoma, Granger and Wenatchee, including paper and electronic client file management, data entry and other important clerical tasks.</li>
<li>Across all of our offices, coordinate maintenance of and user support for:
<li>Other miscellaneous communications or IT systems</li>
<li>Create content for and provide updates to nwirp.org.</li>
<li>Provide backup and support for Seattle front desk/reception, interacting with immigrants from over 150 countries.</li>
<li>Monitor inventory and order/distribute office supplies for various offices.</li>
<li>Other duties may be assigned depending upon NWIRP's needs and the skills or passions of the successful candidate. </li>
<b>Professional Qualifications, Experience, and Attributes:</b>
<li>Personal passion for immigrant rights with a belief in the <a href="http://www.nwirp.org/Documents/MissionVisionValues.pdf">mission, vision and values</a> of Northwest Immigrant Rights Project; comfortable working with diverse cultures. </li>
<li>Basic computer and phone support skills.</li>
<li>Willingness to find creative and timely solutions to new problems.</li>
<li>Excellent customer service skills and an ability to respectfully relate to individuals from a variety of cultural identities. </li>
<li>Patience with people for whom technology concepts "do not come naturally."</li>
<li>Excellent written and oral communication skills. </li>
<li>Must be able to efficiently manage multiple tasks, work well under stress and be flexible, anticipating quickly changing needs.</li>
<li>Highly motivated, resourceful, and open-minded.</li>
<li>Positive and friendly attitude.</li>
<li>Experience with or willingness to learn Microsoft Office (especially Word and Excel), Adobe products, Windows Server, Active Directory, Google Apps Dashboard, social networking sites, databases, instant messaging and Internet browsers.</li>
<li>Experience with or willingness to learn troubleshooting of image copying/scanning technologies.</li>
<li>Direct communication style preferred. </li>
<li>Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred but not required.</li>
The Operations Support Associate reports to and is supervised by Kevin Haag, Administrative Director.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear as well as utilize the telephone, computer, pen and paper. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. Should be able to lift/carry up to 25 pounds.
