IRC's Immigration Team in Silver Spring, Maryland, provides high quality, low-cost immigration services, including filing applications for adjustment of status (i.e., green cards), work authorization, naturalization, and family reunification for refugees, asylees, and parolees. The candidate selected for this position will be working alongside one staff member who has an active BIA accreditation, to directly assist these clients. Working with the IRC Immigration Team would provide a volunteer with the rewarding opportunity to assist refugees and asylees as they continue their adjustment to life in the United States by helping them navigate the complexities of the U.S. immigration system. Given the direct service nature of the work, it can be challenging at times and requires cultural sensitivity, patience and flexibility.
We are looking for an individual who can work in a cultural sensitive way, has strong attention to detail, is meticulous, thorough, willing to learn new skills, and is excited to work with people from diverse backgrounds.
