Community Development Intern voluntary service/United States/537472/Community Development InternCommunity Development InternCompass Family Services<p> <strong>Organization: </strong><br> Compass Family Services helps homeless families and families at imminent risk for homelessness to achieve housing stability, family well-being, and self-sufficiency. We are the access point for any SF family facing a housing crisis and our services include emergency shelter, transitional housing, rental assistance, early childhood education, mental health support, in addition to a broad spectrum of counseling, parenting education, prevention, and support services. </p><p> <strong>Position Description:</strong><br> This position will play an instrumental role in helping homeless families access resources in San Francisco and the East Bay. This position will directly support newly housed clients by connecting them to resources in their new communities. This position will also support Case Managers by researching, organizing and maintaining information on partner agencies that provide assistance with childcare, mental health, employment services, rental assistance, etc. This will allow Compass staff to provide clients with the most up-to-date and accurate referrals for services that Compass is unable to offer. </p><p> <strong>Responsibilities and Projects:</strong> <ul> <li>Interview previously identified Compass staff to gather institutional knowledge about external resources in the community and most commonly accessed services. </li> <li>Conduct research and contact partner agencies via phone and email using Compass staff suggestions, brochures, and flyers as guides to collect up-to-date information.</li> <li>Organize current resources on agency shared drive to create a central location for all staff members to access resources for external referrals. </li> <li>Add new agency information to shared drive for Compass staff to access. Create a spreadsheet (or other database format) for easily accessing and editing partner agency information.</li> <li>Organize events to help families who have recently relocated to the East Bay build community and connect with other Compass families and/or new agencies</li> </ul> </p> <div class="ExternalClass2B53DCD77A58466096C8CBF39C1813DF"><p> <strong>Preferred Qualifications:</strong> <ul> <li>Relevant Bachelor's degree or 4 years of relevant experience</li> <li>Excellent interpersonal, listening and communication skills. </li> <li>Ability to interact with diverse clients, co-workers and colleagues alike in a positive, constructive manner</li> <li>Proven leadership skills</li> <li>Outstanding work habits: punctual, reliable, cooperative, team-oriented</li> <li>Work or volunteer experience with homeless populations preferred. </li> <li>Strong computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office and Google applications. </li> <li>Ability to interact with diverse clients, co-workers and colleagues alike in a positive, constructive manner.</li> </ul> </p></div>
