The International Guest House (IGH) is located in the heart of Washington, D.C. and provides hospitality, housing, relationship, and Christian witness to travelers from around the world. Volunteers work alongside a host and hostess to create community in support of the ministry of hospitality. Duties include: preparing and serving meals and evening tea, leading devotions, cleaning guest rooms, bathrooms and common areas, laundry, answering the phone and door, and taking phone registrations. IGH has three floors and a basement that houses the laundry and guest sitting room. Volunteers are up and down the stairs multiple times a day and need to be able to do so cheerfully. SOOP volunteers are accepted for one to six months. A private bedroom and shared bathroom are provided along with all meals at no cost to the volunteer.
