Mission and leadership experience: Susan has worked for and served on boards and committees for various nonprofit organizations, many of them faith-based. She enjoys contributing her analytical and writing skills, collaborative working style, and experience developing policies and procedures to the church and other organizations that share her values.
Susan and her husband, Alan, served as community development volunteers for Mennonite Central Committee in Guatemala from 1996-1999. She is currently vice chair of the Leadership Council at First Mennonite Church of Denver and previously served on other committees and ad hoc groups at the church. She serves on the governing board for her daughters' public elementary school, and volunteers there in the classroom and for fundraisers and community-building events.
While living in Cleveland for 10 years, she led the Ten Thousand Villages board and served on several other faith-based nonprofit boards and public collaboratives related to homelessness and affordable housing.
Susan received her BA in Economics from Goshen (Indiana) College and an MS in Urban Studies from Cleveland State University.
