Sent 2018 is a peace church conference for church planters and anyone else interested in seeding the kingdom presence in every context of America. The third annual gathering of its kind, Sent 2018 will gather diverse leaders for worship, inspiration, resourcing, networking, and empowerment to take risks that nurture the birth of missional communities that express the Anabaptist vision.

Join us as we explore the theme of "Scattered: The experience of the early church from Jerusalem to Antioch." Speakers, seminars, and time for conversations will create an environment for mutual support and learning. Download the PDF schedule.

We will have room for luggage at the church since the hotel check-in doesn’t start until 4 p.m.

Speakers

Ryan Ahlgrim is pastor of First Mennonite Church of Richmond, Virginia. A graduate of AMBS (MDiv) and McCormick Theological Seminary (DMin), he has served as a youth minister (Lombard Mennonite Church), a church planter (Peoria-North Mennonite Church), and a lead pastor (First Mennonite Church, Indianapolis). He is the author of Not as the Scribes: Jesus as a Model for Prophetic Preaching (Herald Press, 2002) and Sick Religion or Healthy Faith: Beliefs and Practices for Healing Christian Communities (Wipf & Stock, 2016), and is a frequent contributor to church publications. He is married to Laurie, a school nurse, and has a grown son and daughter.

Michael Danner—After pastoring in local congregations for more than 20 years, Michael become the conference executive minister of Illinois Mennonite Conference in the fall of 2015. He is passionate about equipping pastors to lead local congregations in mission.  He has a BS in speech communications from the University of Illinois, an MA in religion from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, and a DMin in Contextual Theology from Northern Seminary.  He blogs regularly at michaeldanner.net.

Leonard Dow is a stewardship and development specialist for Everence. Everence helps people, churches and organizations align faith with finances. Dow's role is to help Christian individuals and communities in urban areas to strengthen, sustain and build their financial capacity.

Kristin Jackson has led the pastoral team at Living Water Community Church since September 2011. Kristin has lived in the Rogers Park neighborhood of Chicago since 1994, and has been a member of Living Water, also located in Rogers Park, since it began. She loves her neighborhood and feels called to participate in God's good news of reconciliation here. Kristin earned an MDiv from North Park Theological Seminary and an MEd from Loyola University, and she worked for many years as a teacher before becoming a pastor. Kristin and her husband, Julian, have two school-age sons, Liam and Elijah.

Sarah Jackson—Several years ago, Sarah Jackson went on a trip to the U.S./Mexico border and saw first-hand families being separated. She decided to do something about it, because she believes families should be together. So she opened Casa de Paz, a hospitality home serving families torn apart by immigrant detention centers. Sarah’s hope and prayer is to help end the isolating experience of detention, one simple act of love at a time.

James R. Krabill served for 14 years as a Mennonite Bible and church history teacher among African-initiated churches in West Africa. Since 1996, he has worked in various administrative capacities at Mennonite Board of Missions and Mennonite Mission Network, and currently serves as senior missions advocate for Mission Network's Church Relations department.

Marvin Lorenzana was born in Tegucigalpa, capital city of Honduras. He currently works for Mennonite Mission Network as director for Discipleship Initiatives (MDI). He also works for Virginia Mennonite Missions as a director for the Mennonite Hispanic Initiative (MHI). Marvin has a BS in management and organizational development from Eastern Mennonite University. He also has an M. Div., from Eastern Mennonite Seminary as well as a D.Min., from Asbury Theological Seminary.

Madeline and David Maldonado are both ordained, and have been active in Southeast Mennonite Conference leadership. They also have held leadership positions in Mennonite Church USA. Each has preached at a Mennonite Church USA convention. They each served on the Mennonite Church USA Iglesia Menonita Hispana board of directors, but at different times. Madeline is current chair of the board of directors for Mennonite Mission Network.

Karen Martinez lives in West Palm Beach, Florida, and was born in Honduras. She is a member of GFA West Palm Beach (Grupo Familiar Anabaustista). This ministry serves families in a trailer community, and many of these residents are undocumented immigrants.

Martin Navarro is a bilingual stewardship consultant with Everence Financial and also associate conference minister of Hispanic Ministries for Illinois Mennonite Conference. He is married to Viri, and they live in Elkhart, Indiana, where he is a member of Prairie Street Mennonite Church.

Heidi Regier Kreider is conference minister for Western District Conference (Mennonite Church USA), and previously served as pastor at Emmanuel Mennonite Church in Gainesville, Florida, and Bethel College Mennonite Church in North Newton, Kansas. She graduated from Bethel College (Kansas) and Yale Divinity School. Heidi grew up as a child of mission workers in Mexico and Congo. She and her husband, David, are parents of two young adult sons.

Sally Schreiner Youngquist is community leader of Reba Place Fellowship and a former pastor of Living Water Community Church in Chicago. She got her MDiv from Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary and studied and worked at the Seminary Consortium for Pastoral Education. She is married to Orwin Youngquist, stepmother to three fine daughters, and grandmother to seven great kids.

Jessica Schrock-Ringenberg is the disturber and equipper (apostolic prophet) on the Collaborative Ministry Team at Zion Mennonite Church. She is currently serving as missional leader for Ohio Conference, where she is trying to facilitate "missional lab" space to help leaders understand more fully what we mean by "missional church." Jessica is currently being trained through Exponential's Emerging Leaders Cohort on how to become a movement maker. She lives in northwest Ohio with her husband, Shem, three small children, and hobby farm (which is totally missional).

Hotel group rate is $199 a night per room plus taxes. All rooms include two queen beds, which means $99 a night per person if you share a room (which we highly encourage). This rate and reservation is based on a minimum stay of two nights.

We have blocked 50 rooms at this rate. Please indicate on the registration form if you would like to reserve a single room at $199 or if you would like to share a room at $99.50 per night, per person plus taxes.

A few rooms could be made available for Thursday or Sunday night with the same rate.  Please make sure to mark that on the registration if you need a room for either of those nights
