The theme of MCUSA convention in 2005 was "Can't keep quiet." 16 years later, that still rings true. We have a joyful, hopeful message given to us by God — and of course, we can't keep quiet. We endeavor to reveal and partner in God's mission in the world.
Mission is about extending the worship of the God who loves every individual in creation across the street and around the world.
"House of the Lord" by Phil Wickham
By age 19, Phil Wickham and his band were doing so well, they thought about going more mainstream. But he didn't quite feel a peace about it that. He asked God to reveal his vision and purpose for his life.
The answer came in a dramatic way. Wickham and his band were about to go on stage at an outdoor music festival in the U.K. when a huge storm rolled in. The whole event moved under a big tent. While under the tent, the power went out as well. The whole place went quiet. And in the darkness, with the rain pouring down outside, a song from Wickham's childhood began to fill his heart. He stepped to the edge of the stage and began to sing, "I love you Lord, and I lift my voice . . . " Gradually the entire crowd joined in and this precipitated an hour of spontaneous worship in the darkness and heavy rain. In the storm, he found his call leading people in worship of the Lord of the wind and the rain.
