Take a tour of the San Francisco MVS unit house!

Wondering what the Mennonite Voluntary Service (MVS) unit house in San Francisco looks like? Let MVS participants Polly Carlson and Claire Waidelich (2020-22) show you!

The MVS unit is housed in a spacious top flat of a Victorian-style house. MVSers each have their own bedroom and share a common living area, kitchen and two bathrooms. The house also shares a garden and small patio with the neighbors downstairs. MVSers have easy access to public transportation, and are within walking distance of the supporting church, parks, groceries, and many congregation members’ homes.

The San Francisco MVS unit is nestled in a beautiful, intense urban environment that contains many cultures, abundant parks, diverse personalities and opportunities for daily encounters with folks spanning the spectrum of wealth and poverty. MVS participants serve with nonprofit organizations engaged with issues of poverty, homelessness, social justice, education and health.
