Values that shape us
Following are values that shape us and form the culture, character and relationships of Mission Network. Our goal is that they will become a natural outgrowth of who we are, what we do, and how we do it. They represent our intentions as individuals and teams within Mission Network. Each value is equally important as MMN upholds our mission by sharing all of Christ with all of creation.
Christ-Centeredness
“Christ is at the core of who we are, our mission and vision. We share the Anabaptist conviction that Jesus is the center of our faith.” — What is an Anabaptist Christian, Palmer Becker
“Remain in me, and I will remain in you. A branch can’t produce fruit by itself, but must remain in the vine. Likewise, you can’t produce fruit unless you remain in me.” —John 15:4 (CEB)
Mutuality
We build respectful relationships of collaboration, learning from one another’s cultures and contexts, each giving and receiving.
“Above all, show sincere love to each other, because love brings about the forgiveness of many sins. Open your homes to each other without complaining. And serve each other according to the gift each person has received, as good managers of God’s diverse gifts.” — 1 Peter 4:8-10 (CEB)
Belonging
Our Anabaptist way of living centers around community. Each and every person is an integral part of the whole.
“We have many parts in one body, but the parts don’t all have the same function. In the same way, though there are many of us, we are one body in Christ, and individually we belong to each other.” — Romans 12:4-5 (CEB)
Innovation
We strive to be flexible and work closely with our partners in creating a new vision for ministry in a rapidly changing world.
“No one pours new wine into old leather wineskins; otherwise, the wine would burst the wineskins and the wine would be lost and the wineskins destroyed. But new wine is for new wineskins.” — Mark 2:22 (CEB)
Reconciliation
We seek to be active witnesses for peace and justice, believing that all people are created in God’s image.
“He has told you, human one, what is good and what the Lord requires from you: to do justice, embrace faithful love, and walk humbly with your God.” — Micah 6:8 (CEB)
