"At the anniversary, your feelings intensify," my spiritual director said. The first week of March is the anniversary of my father-in-law’s memorial service. The second week, the anniversary of COVID-19 precautions. The third week, of moving my office to the dining room table. In my dining room office, there are no pictures on the walls, no curtains on the windows. The curtains came down in January 2020. The repainting and the remodel were planned. Hospice was not. This year-long letting go and cleaning out, brings me to the heart of Lent, clinging to promised patterns of life, death and resurrection."
