Radio spots on grief, mental illness sent to 3,000 stations

HARRISONBURG, Va. – A series of Third Way Media radio spots on mental illness that won both Gracie and Gabriel awards, and a second series on recovery from grief which prompted more than 400 calls for resources on dealing with grief, have been mailed for a second time to 3,000 radio stations across the U.S.

The series are titled “Glimpses of Hope: Finding Hope and Healing after the Death of a Loved One” and “Unsung: Family Voices on Mental Illness.”

Third Way Media still had 3,400 CDs of these two series on hand and received grants from Schowalter Foundation and Mennonite Foundation to help fund the remarketing of these spots.

All of the 30-second public service radio spots feature interviews with people who have dealt with grief or mental illness in their families. They include former First Lady Rosalynn Carter, Dr. Joyce Burland of National Alliance on Mental Illness, Dr. Kay Redfield Jamison, author and professor of psychiatry at Johns Hopkins University, and Susan Gregg Schroeder, founder of Mental Health Ministries. All of the spots can be read or heard at the Third Way Café website, http://www.thirdway.com/Rad/  where additional resources on grief are also posted. In addition, the radio spots on mental illness are backed by a website with information and stories on mental illness at www.ShadowVoices.com.

Third Way Media produces radio spots, videos, and documentaries for national television, and maintains Third Way Café (www.thirdway.com) through Mennonite Mission Network on behalf of Mennonite Church USA.
