Ken Medema, a key performer at Mennonite church youth and adult conventions for the last 20 years or so, is the guest on Shaping Families radio program this week. As a Christian music artist playing to audiences from 50 to 50,000, Medema has been playing piano since the age of five, has degrees in piano, vocal performance and music therapy.

But in his interview for Shaping Families, Medema tells about his family’s recent decision to try multi-generational living: grandparents, parents, and children all under the same roof.

As one might expect, there are positives and negatives to such a living arrangement, but Medema and his family are all enjoying “community” life. He says, “We’ve got seven people … we’re all there together and we are figuring out what that means. And it still makes life, I think, easier for all of us.”

Shaping Families radio program is now airing on 17 local radio stations, with stations in Windom, Minnesota and London, Ohio recently adding Shaping Families to their program line up. It can also be heard online at www.ShapingFamilies.com. Eleven Mennonite related sponsors are participating in purchasing air time. Shaping Families is produced by Third Way Media through Mennonite Mission Network.
