Bullying in all its forms has always been a sad, frustrating, and sometimes deadly fact of life in growing up. How can families and churches equip kids to get along with each other and grow in their understandings of peacemaking?
Carmen Kingsley, a Mennonite Voluntary Service voluntary in Chicago in 2004 worked as a volunteer where children of different ethnicities were often separated by literal railroad tracks. On the Shaping Families radio program this week, Kingsley tells about her work for "Play for Peace." Two volunteers with "Challenge Day" also talk about bullying and violence. Kingsley appeared earlier in Peace DVD produced by Third Way Media. For more, see www.peacedvd.com
The July 3 program also features a "Real People, Real Peace" radio spot inspired by Pauline Yoder who taught kindergarten in Goshen, Ind. and asked her students, “How would people act if there was peace on earth?”
Shaping Families radio program airs each weekend on 15 radio stations and online at www.ShapingFamilies.com, and is produced by Third Way Media through Mennonite Mission Network.
