Christian Hospital

 Partner overview

Dhamtari Christian Hospital is a large, self-supporting hospital begun by Mennonite Church missionaries in the early 20th century. While North American Mennonites no longer subsidize any part of the hospital's program or physical plant, the hospital continues to yearn for connections to American Mennonite friends, including an open invitation for medical personnel to serve in short-term assignments.Several years ago, hospital administration and the governing Mennonite Medical Board developed a vision and began building toward an associated educational institution. A College of Allied Health Sciences is being readied for inauguration, and a full-fledged medical college is awaiting government approval. An American non-profit corporation, Friends of Dhamtari Christian Medical College, is registered and seeking to promote the expanded vision among North American supporters. That vision is, in short, to provide a quality medical education for students committed to serving as rural doctors in India.
