Centre Evangélique de Formation en Communication pour l’Afrique

In 1985, the Centre Evangélique de Formation en Communication pour l’Afrique (Evangelical Center for Training in Communication for Africa – CEFCA ) was founded to address a critical need: equipping African leaders with specialized skills in media and communications. This visionary initiative united 36 African denominations and mission organizations from six countries, creating a collaborative hub in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.

From its inception, the Mennonite Board of Missions, a predecessor to Mennonite Mission Network, played a pivotal role in CEFCA’s establishment. Mennonite workers provided essential teaching expertise and enriched the center’s resources by supplying library materials. Over the years, Mennonite personnel served alongside CEFCA, fostering its growth and impact. Today, CEFCA stands as a testament to cross-cultural partnership and the power of communication to uplift communities and amplify voices across Africa.

For nearly four decades, CEFCA has trained generations of African communicators, empowering them to share stories, spread messages of hope, and lead with purpose in their churches and communities. The center’s legacy reflects a commitment to equipping leaders with the tools to navigate an ever-evolving media landscape, from radio and print to digital platforms.
