Jubilee Partners is a Christian service community in rural northeast Georgia whose primary work is resettling refugees. Volunteer work is primarily maintenance-related unless the volunteer is able to fulfill a complete term of seasonal service: four months in spring, four months in fall, or three months in summer. The shortest length of service is six to eight weeks, and arrivals are best when timed for the beginning of the seasonal service terms for orientation and training purposes: early January, mid-May, mid-August. Volunteers have study sessions each week on issues important to Christian living in an intentional community. Housing in the main community building, which also contains the communal dining hall. Housing is dormitory style, with a number of small bedrooms along a hallway, and a shared bathroom. Food is provided. Some meals are taken communally, and others are for the volunteer to prepare on their own.
2025 Special Request for Construction help:
Jubilee Partners is seeking experienced contractors to help with finishing the construction of a new house. Any experienced contractors such as carpenters, plumbers, electricians, and/or laborers would be appreciated. Jubilee has experienced a lot of growth recently because of an influx of new members joining our Chrisitian community as well as volunteers who come three times a year to help us serve “the least of these:” the refugees and the immigrants in our midst.
Jubilee Partners has been welcoming immigrants and refugees ever since its founding in 1979, when three families moved to Comer, Georgia from Koinonia Partners (now Koinonia Farm) to begin a new community. Jubilee is committed to maintaining at least 3 houses for short-term hospitality of immigrants as well as additional space for longer-term guests, but we are running into a housing shortage as our volunteer program and staffing have expanded. Right now we are in the process of building a new two-bedroom unit that will house some of our older staff members and will hopefully alleviate some of the housing pressure we are experiencing. But we could really use some help from experienced contractors or builders to bring this house to completion quickly and affordably. Thank you for your help and prayers!
Resident Volunteer Program:
We have three volunteer terms each year beginning in January, May and August. Resident volunteers are provided with food and housing along with a small weekly living allowance.
Most resident volunteers spend part of their time teaching English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), outdoors working in the Jubilee garden, and a variety of other tasks within the community. Volunteers also meet together to discuss readings related to issues of justice and Christian discipleship.
The minimum age for resident volunteers is 19 years old. Many volunteers are recent college graduates or current students, but volunteer groups often include a mix of younger and older single people, as well as married couples and families with children.
