Solidarity Scholarship Fund

The Solidarity Fund aims to foster equitable learning and service opportunities by addressing barriers for individuals who have financial need and are also from communities most impacted by a history of systemic oppression and injustice. Broadening the demographic profiles of our participants increases the likelihood of a richer cultural experience for all participants.

The fund supports participation in:

  • Learning through Just Peace Pilgrimages and Youth Venture
  • Service through Mennonite Voluntary Service and Service Adventure

Eligibility

  • Individuals who are 15 years or older.
  • Individuals from Asian, Black, Hispanic, Indigenous and other multi-racial communities that are most impacted by a history of systemic oppression and injustice.
  • Individuals who identify cost as a barrier to participation.
  • When funds allow, White allies committed to advancing racial and social justice with a financial need may also be considered.

Considerations

  • Applicants may request consideration for the fund during the application process or interview.
  • Fund disbursement announcements will align with program start dates.
  • Total annual disbursements will not exceed MMN’s budget for the fund.
  • Funds are designated for a single learning and service opportunity. Recipients may apply for future opportunities, but funding is not guaranteed.
  • Funds will cover program-related expenses (e.g., travel, local costs) and will not be given directly to recipients.
  • Information about the fund will be shared publicly via fliers, social media, and websites.

Note: Funds distributed to Mennonite Church USA- and MMN-related parties will be considered taxable income. See program applications to indicate your eligibility.
