Meet Mission Network board member Donald Kempf

Donald Kempf is a dedicated member of the Mennonite Mission Network (MMN) Board of Directors, bringing his background in international service, community leadership, and Anabaptist values to support the organization’s mission of equipping churches for holistic witness to Jesus Christ across the globe.

He graduated from the University of Nebraska with a degree in agronomy.  After graduation, he and his wife, Shirley, embarked on a two-year term of service in Brazil with Mennonite Central Committee (MCC), focusing on community development work. Upon returning to the United States, Kempf joined the family farm, where he continues to apply his expertise in sustainable agriculture. He and Shirley volunteer through Service Opportunities with Our Partners (SOOP) every winter.

Kempf was the Ecuador and Venezuela Partnership coordinator for Central Plains Mennonite Conference from 2008-2018. This role included leading fellowship and learning tours and developing relationships through reciprocal visits with our partners in Ecuador.

He has served on his local school board and as chairperson of the MCC Central States board, where he helped oversee relief, development, and peacebuilding initiatives across the region.
