Founded in 1989, Iglesia Evangélica Menonita de Chile (IEMCH) is a conference with seven congregations located in or near Santiago and Concepción.

The IEMCH’s ties to the broader Mennonite community were forged through relationships with Chileans who embraced the Mennonite faith while living in Canada, bringing their newfound convictions back to Chile to establish and nurture these congregations.

Putting into practice what they have learned with Sister Care | Mennonite Women USA, women in the churches minister to each other and help other women through listening and praying together.  The churches are known for their service in the community, reaching out to people in need and sharing a cup of hot coffee, food and clothes with people on the streets.  They also establish regular patterns of fund raising, making and selling French fries and plates of food to build and manage property needs and their ministries. 

Relationships with Anabaptist professors, mission workers, and church members from North and South America, including Mennonite Mission Network and Mennonite Church Canada (and their predecessor agencies), contributed to an increased understanding of Anabaptist theological convictions and a desire of the IEMCH to be more fully a part of the Anabaptist family of faith. In 2011, the Iglesia Evangélica Menonita de Chile was accepted as the 100th member church of the Mennonite World Conference.
