Downloadable video segments now available at Third Way Cafe

HARRISONBURG, Va. (Mennonite Media) — It’s 11 p.m. on Saturday night and you’re finally preparing materials for your Sunday school class or youth group meeting on Sunday. You’re fresh out of ideas and the stagnant lesson plans scream for something lively. You procrastinated again and it’s too late to go to a resource center, library or to order anything off the Internet.

Or is it? Tailor-made for procrastinators, downloadable video segments on the Internet from the MennoMedia Store can quickly put you back in business.

Third Way Café’s “store” at store.mennomedia.org now offers 19 downloadable video segments, with more to come as time allows, for under $10 each. Free preview segments and study guides are also available. The segments range in length from two minutes to 12:45 with many in the three to six minute range.

Many of the current downloads come from Peace DVD produced especially for youth audiences. Topics available include several on youth service work, a Cheyenne Peace Chief story of reconciliation, a father weighing family priorities, escalation of conflict, understanding other positions on the war in Iraq, stories from several conscientious objectors, the vegan lifestyle, basic salvation truths, sustainable agriculture, patriotism, embarrassing moments of youth, parables from the Bible and our gas-guzzling food-delivery system. Several are made available through arrangement with Ted & Company Theater Works.

“They’re not just new products,” says Burton Buller, Mennonite Media director. “They illuminate what it means to be a Christian and how Mennonites practice and live their faith in an Anabaptist perspective in contemporary society.

The downloads can be used as Sunday school or youth group discussion starters, sermon illustrations, in presentations, or with small groups.

After placing an order on the store, an e-mail is sent to the purchaser with a link making the video segment available in a Quick Time format for five days after purchase. Go to store.mennomedia.org or if you have questions call 1-800-999-3534 Monday through Thursday from 8 to 4:30.
