Elkhart, Ind.—Mennonite Mission Network announces the appointment of Haiam Shank to the international ministries department. In her half-time role, she will provide administrative support for the Africa director.
Shank, originally from Egypt, has worked in a broad range of positions, including as a preschool teacher in Fishers, Ind.; a pharmacy technician in Alexandria, Egypt; and a legal secretary, also in Alexandria.
Among the many gifts she brings to her role is fluency in Arabic.
Steve Wiebe-Johnson, director for Africa, is excited to welcome Shank aboard. “Haiam has a lot of enthusiasm for mission and a desire to use her gifts to serve the church,” he said. “She has a team spirit and a joyful presence, and we are glad to have her with us.”
Shank said she feels blessed to be working for Mission Network. “I’m so happy to be here and to be a part of God’s work,” she said. “My desire is to help people know Christ, and to be his hands and feet.”
She lives in Goshen, Ind., with her husband, Brent; son, Mina; and daughter, Marissa.
