Want to turn a bad day around in just two minutes? There’s an app for that.
The Call on Faith application, recently launched by Odyssey Networks, of which Third Way Media is a member on behalf of Mennonite Church USA, is the first all-video digital source of content that puts inspiration in the palms of users 24-7.
The new application, which was produced in partnership with GoTV Networks, is now available on iPhone, Blackberry and Android phones and on the iPad and iTouch. It delivers 80 original two-minute videos on 14 different channels each month for a one-time download charge of $.99.
Six of the app’s channels are programmed by Odyssey, the nation’s largest multi-faith coalition dedicated to producing media that enriches spiritual life and promotes understanding among people of diverse beliefs and perspectives. The content includes inspirational insights, advice on better living, personal stories of faith and compassion, and prayers and reflections from the world’s great faith traditions. For example, during February authors Philip Yancey and Eliza Griswold are featured along with entertainers such as William Lee Golden of the Oak Ridge Boys.
Sheri Hartzler, interim co-director of Third Way Media and member of Odyssey’s governing board was filmed for a story for the Compassionate Acts channel (to be posted soon).
“We are hoping to offer stories of faith from other Mennonites as well as additional Mennonite content in the future," Hartzler said. "It would be wonderful to consider adding a Mennonite channel of our own on Call on Faith someday.”
Additional Call on Faith channels are programmed by seven of Odyssey’s member organizations: United Church of Christ, First Radio Parish Church of America (“Daily Devotions” with Peter Panagore), Chicago Sunday Evening Club (“A Few Good Minutes”), Seventh-day Adventist Church (“Mad about Marriage” and “Voice of Prophecy”), the Episcopal Church, Atlanta Interfaith Broadcasters, and Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers. These member channels deliver spiritual inspiration, personal stories and guidance from unique faith perspectives, appealing to a wide range of spiritual seekers.
Call on Faith is available for download through www.callonfaith.com or at iTunes, Blackberry World or Android Market. It is also available on the Sprint Network as a monthly subscription. For more information on Call on Faith go to www.callonfaith.com.
