Hospitality house in France offers refuge for migrants on the move

Joseph and Rachel Givens accompany volunteers with the Maria Skobtsova Housing Association and wider community in Calais, France. The association offers temporary shelter to migrants from the Middle East and Africa, primarily, who are seeking refuge en route to England.

In Calais, France, Joseph and Rachel Givens run a hospitality house for women and children who are migrants, typically from the Middle East or Africa, working their way to the UK. It’s the sort of thing where they may host someone for one or two months and then suddenly, they have to leave within minutes in the night and they might not see them again.

—Lane Miller, Mennonite Mission Network regional co-director for Europe and Africa
