SOOP Details
SOOP participants choose their location, time and length of service; assist in finding an assignment; and set their own pace. They also work directly with on-site coordinators, who frequently help arrange suitable housing. Participants generally cover travel, food, lodging, health insurance and medical costs. Assignments generally range from one weekend to four months. SOOP is a joint program with Mennonite Association of Retired Persons and Mennonite Central Committee Canada.

SOOP administrator contacts site coordinators to match volunteer's gifts to location's needs
Site coordinator matches scheduled service time of volunteer to location(s)
Volunteer received name and telephone number of potential service location(s)
SOOP (kept informed by coordinators) sends confirmation of assignment to volunteer
