The Gospel of Peace, God’s Mission, and the Witness of the Church

Call for submissions: Book project

Join a global celebration of Anabaptist faith

Over the five centuries of the global Anabaptist movement, the centrality of peace to the gospel has repeatedly surfaced as central to Anabaptist understandings of God’s mission in the world, the rejection of violence, the calling to enemy love, and the commitment to reconciled human relations undergirded and shaped by God’s reconciling mission in the world.

Mennonites and other groups within the Anabaptist stream have often disagreed about the theological foundations of this gospel of peace and its implication for the church’s embodied witness. Yet amidst these differences, Anabaptist groups today continue to be renewed through a rediscovery and rearticulation of the gospel of peace as rooted in and integral to God’s mission in the world.

The 500th anniversary of the Anabaptist movement offers an opportunity for learning how Anabaptists worldwide understand peace theologically and live it out in diverse contexts.

To foster this global dialogue, Mennonite World Conference, Mennonite Mission Network, and Mennonite Central Committee invite contributions for a new book exploring

  • the gospel of peace
  • God’s mission
  • the church’s witness
